Last October, I had the honor of giving a TEDx Talk at TEDx Wilson Park in Florence, Alabama. My talk centered on a crucial topic: why we must stand up to trans bullies and protect trans rights.
It wasn’t just a personal reflection on having a trans loved one—it was a call to action. In my talk, I dive into key questions:
- What does it mean to be trans?
- How are trans people being bullied in today’s world?
- Why is it so important to confront the bullies?
- And most importantly, what can each of us do to make a difference?
At its core, my TEDx Talk highlights one undeniable truth: trans people are human, and they deserve the same love, respect, and dignity as anyone else. That’s why we cannot remain silent when we witness bullying or discrimination.
The reception of my talk at the event was incredibly positive, and I’m thrilled to share that the TED organization plans to “feature” my talk when it’s officially published. The message is timely, urgent, and more relevant than ever.
Sadly, since October, the threat against trans people has only escalated. Our trans friends, family, and loved ones are facing increasingly harsh and targeted attacks—many of them driven by cruel political agendas. The current climate makes it clear: now, more than ever, we must unite and take action.
When my TEDx Talk is published, I urge you to share it widely. Let’s raise awareness and stand together to create a world where everyone, regardless of their gender identity, feels safe, valued, and seen.
Together, we can confront trans bullies, protect trans rights, and make a difference.
